    Amazon vs AliExpress quality

I get it when references get used, but this is just theft and laziness, a literal copy and paste. Doesn’t matter if it’s just a quick panel, it makes you wonder what else was taken. Doesn’t bode well for reputation.

I do not like copy, I also do not like tracking, but if I had to choose what is worse, I think that the copy is much worse

    Wow, talk about shameless.

  • 2020-05-19 14:41:41

Oh I thought it just was from the same artist at first and that they reused the head ... i mean yes it’d seem a little lazy but not such a big deal since it’s just a small part within a bigger piece.
BUT if it’s a different artist it really looks too similar to just be inspired
It’s literally the exact same =.=

It's obviously traced on. Art theft is a really shameful behaviour.
I don't want to defend this guy and I'll never do such thing but we can find an explanation. I just checked the commission and he delivered a 6 panels for 100EV. I know you value an artist's work and it's a lot of work for a cheap price there.
But yeah in the end, as @TOFUK mentionned, it makes us wonder if he didn't steal his whole work.

The bottom right panel is quite similar to another artist's work as well. External volleyball-practice

It's also traced on it, no doubt. Maybe we should call the Admins ?

A (or the only?) moderator here. TOFUK, already posted in this blog. Telling the admins about it might not hurt though.

I agree that 100 EVs (27 USD) isn't too much, especially for 6 panels. However, artists can adjust their price when making offers and this artist agreed to do it all for 100 EVs.

  • 2020-05-20 16:34:57

I sent a message to the admins, I'll let you know what's going on.
Yeah you're right He sould have adjust the price. Would have been honest. And by doing so, he prevents other artists to get those commissions.

And what does the commission author thinks about the artwork? Is he satisfied? I don't see him here in comments, or complaints from him in the direct messages. Therefore, I'm not sure why it is all that fuss. Probably, he has sent those reference artworks in DM to the Artist, asking for exact same scenes?

I was not to speak on this issue but I thought exactly the same as Josuke, what if the author of the commission wanted exactly these panels? Let's ask ourselves whether the most important is not the satisfaction of the commision author? In my opinion, the only people who have the right to make a fuss about this is the author of the commission and the author of the original picture used by this artist.

  • 2020-05-21 23:40:23

I didn't think of the bigger issue regarding the similarities. I'll use this as a learning experience.

BTW, the artist displayed us the screenshots and sketches done in Procreate, so he genuinely has drawn those panels. And you can clearly see it (as I did) if you look at the picture: lines and color fills are genuine and smooth. Not a photoshop copied-pasted for sure.
Yes, he might have used references and copied those ideas (drawn the same frame layouts exactly), but the artworks were done in hand.

It might affect his reputation though, so I'd rather advise artists to use the references carefully.

Sketches? It fucking match the original picture line by line so dont even try to make it sound like real drawing... he might sended you the lines he did over it, but no fucking sketches

I stand with RoyHanner there. He traced line by line at least 2 panels from other artists' works, and may have for all the panels for what we know.
Again, by doing so he steals other artists' artwork which they had to CREATE by using time and real artcraft, and he steals other artits' opportunities to get the commissions.
As suggested we can call out the commission author and the stolen artist there.
Anyone know who they are ?
